Marx actually talks about "philanthropists" like Gates and how they're nothing more than slave drivers. They do "philanthropy" in order to maintain the workforce at subsistence levels and are actually worse than slave owners because the people they're "supporting" aren't even their property/something they'd give even a partial shit about, so they'll just let them die or kill them when they don't need them anymore.
