I went to a reactionary community and told them lies that reinforce and embolden their reactionary beliefs. THEY ACTUALLY BELI-

    :bonk:

Are we the CIA now? Did the CIA pay them to do this or did this person just do the CIA's job for free?

We already knew that the anti-CCP people believe lies. They don't care about being right, they're just bigoted against china and communism. Nothing good can come of pretending to be a reactionary. Being a reactionary and pretending to be a reactionary are indistinguishable in effect.

I have to agree that pretending to prove an imperialist lie with evidence that is anything more than trivially discountable isn't a good idea. A lot of people will just see the pictures and the headline and accept it. Next thing you know they're mentioning it offhand to someone else and it grows the common conception that there is good evidence for the lie.

The number of people that read misinformation is always much greater than the number who read the corrected information. Look at all the cases of the fake articles about China and DPRK. They make it to the front page of reddit with 60,000 upvotes. Then when and if the articles ever get corrected, only a few hundred people see it.

The majority of people that upvoted the post won't know or care that it was fake. The moderators already swept it under the rug. The people who do figure out that it was fake will make up a narrative to save face. That is what reactionaries do. They don't have any sort of theory or analysis to rationalize actions or mistakes. These people are ignorant. They believe things because they want the things to be true. They make up lies to uphold the status quo. That's it.

Spreading misinformation would be an effective attack against leftist communities because leftist communities require organizing and seek to enact change. Spreading misinformation in a reactionary community is not an effective tactic because reactionaries benefit from disorganization. Reactionaries want to prevent change of the status quo. Reactionaries would work all day and night just to make sure that nothing changes.

Racists lie and racists talk to people about nonsense. That’s what they do. It doesn’t matter whether they believe their own nonsense, their followers do and they agree to talk about their nonsense because they don’t want to let the far right know how powerful they are.

It’s not the government doing this. The government has tried to stop this from going on, but they can’t stop it. The government is helpless when it comes to fanatics like this, as the government itself has been proven to be.
