Danzig was already highly sus back in the 90s. He recorded a song named White Devil Rise on one of his solo records and when music journos questioned him about that he was all like "why can't white ppl be proud of their race when there's such a thing as black power?" Then he went on explaining that the song was a response to comments by Louis Farakhan, that it described a race war and that Farakhan should be careful what he wished for. The guy is a total chud if you ask me.

Damn, Danzig making the whole punk scene sound like a bunch of pussies.

Someone go put him back on his rocker or put him down.

If you want an old punk who didn't turn into a chud doofus, keep up with Dick Lucas of the Subhumans. Some of the best anarcho punk of the 80s with unapologetic animal rights messages. :liz-punk:

Most UK anarcho punk old dudes are still cool. With some major exceptions.

Oh, can also confirm the Subhumans still put on a great show and Dick Lucas is one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. Absolute sweetheart.

The Misfits were violent jocks when they started and really aren't that important to punk music, they just cashed in on being melodic in the 90s and having a dumb as fuck gimmick.

I dig the Misfits and Danzig, but Glenn's got famously bad opinions.

Honestly, it's the truth. Songs like Black Dream, Let the Day Begin, and The Hungry End are all absolute bangers. Archangel is also a personal favorite of mine, it's goth as fuck.

I want to call in to Streetfight and just clown on Bryan for unironically thinking Danzig is cool and his music is good. But I like Bryan and don't want to hurt his feelings.

Original misfits, though problematic by today's standards, wrote great songs and anyone who says otherwise had a vastly different punk journey than I. I remember seeing Suicide Machines play once and while one of them was fixing a broken string, the rest of the band played misfits covers and the audience knew all the words, it was a nice bonding experience

yeah they were my first show. but it was when they were playing with dez and marky ramone. they played like 150 songs a night, misfits, blackflag, and the ramones, all done at super speed. some of the best set of shows i've been to, to this day.

Be nice to Bryan, he is a sweetie. He likes Danzig and Type O Negative because of how cheesy they are.

The Misfits were known to be pricks in the 80s as well. It's as if two highschool football jocks and the dude in his twenties who hung out with them didn't go too well with punks.
