    When you move in these echelons of society laws are basically nothing but PR. They look good and the elite can end critique by pointing to them. But that's about it, they can break them as much as they want without risking anything other than the public getting mad at them for a couple of days if they find out and there isn't already another pair of keys being jangled in front of them.

      Really there exists only one law the super rich need to follow: don't fuck things up for other rich people. Basically legally enshrined class consciousness for the capitalist class is one way to look at it

    This already happens between the 5 eyes countries. They have laws on spying on their own citizens, but there's no law that prevents Australia from asking NZ what they know about any Aussie, wink wink nudge nudge

    Ah yes, but what if the private company is violating the constitution on behalf of a government contract which commands them to do so, but this is done at the request of other private companies who are pressuring the government and will benefit from the data collected?
