Light, sound, anything mentally taxing causes pain. What do I do?
I burrito myself in a blanket and attempt to metamorphosize into a giant moth
Try getting a prescription for Rizatriptan (aka Maxalt) or Sumatriptan (aka Imitrex) or a similar drug. Sometimes one will have weird side effects and you can't take it, so you switch to another one. They can work really, really well, like in 20 minutes you go from full on migraine/starting migraine to just sleepy, maybe some lingering soreness but nothing bad.
Im sure for some people it wont do shit, but damn, a lot of people just take acetaminophen/paracetamol AKA Tylenol and dull the pain slightly.
Ice packs, ice packs, ice packs. If I'm capable of standing, a long shower, either way too hot or way too cold.
Lately I've been finding some relief with an acupressure pillow. Especially useful when all of my ice packs are refreezing. Stab yourself in the pressure points and work those endorphins.
Good luck, comrade.
there are a couple of super useful migraine medications out there that put you past the pain phase and right into the exhaustion phase. Try looking them up, they can be shitty or they can be miraculous
Well, when it's me I lock myself in a dark room and try to sleep
You gotta take something like Maxalt and try to fall asleep. If you go to the doc they may give you an injection so it acts faster. If you are having visual occlusions this means this is a legit, full-blown migraine (not a bad headache that people would often mistake for one).
Based on my prior experiences with them I highly recommend trying to go somewhere (clinic, GP emergency visit, maybe even emergency room) to get professional care because they are absolutely fucking horrible. Also, I second ice packs (if you can even stand it). If the epicenter is superficial enough, sometimes hitting it with an ice pack in a thin layer for as long as I can stand it before removing the ice pack will create a "thawing" sensation and provide relief for maybe about a minute or so each time.
Posted almost 20 hours ago as I post this comment. Hope things are getting better by now.
:comfy:
I tend to take several Ibuprofen or naproxin and drink lots of water while I hide in a dark place waiting for the drugs to kick in and I fall asleep. When I've had CDB lozenges handy I'd take one (or a few drops of the oral oil) as it hits faster, covering that hour it takes for the Ibuprofen/naproxin to fully kick in.
I am on the other side of a good night's sleep and feeling much better. Thank you to all the comrades for advice and well wishes!
i usually lay down in my bed put some headphones on and put on like three pairs of sunglasses lmfao
