FBI's blaming an eastern European group called DarkSide, DarkSide denies direct responsibility but claims it may have been perpetrated by a customer of their ransomware.
Cyberattacks are very often absolutely impossible to definitely attribute to an author. Could be a single dude at home, could be a state-sponsored team.
Ransomware attacks are even worse as they self-propagate, probing servers randomly for vulnerabilities. This is likely to not even have been a targeted attack - one of the ransomware's various operators just got lucky and infected yet another network, except this time it was one for a pipeline.
Yeah, most likely. Also, thinking about it I doubt the ransomware operator actually feels lucky - given the impact he must be shitting himself a bit - I doubt he'd even collect the ransom if it was paid.
Just like with covid. The reports coming out of Wuhan were a blip on the radar nobody cared about.
cracks knuckles
i cared. but i couldn't get anyone else to give a shit back in Dec when I saw it becoming more than just a "strange flu." i was also between jobs then and spent too much goddamn time on the internet and I've constantly thought we were overdue for a big disease, i mean a ton of people been saying that tbh. i was lucky to buy masks early and they wouldn't have gone to waste considering i would wear them during the wildfire season here pretty often. but i absolutely cannot say i knew it was gonna be this bad. I had fears it might but really somehow thought the governments of the world couldn't actually fuck it up as bad as they did lol
the similarity you draw is good though because people been reporting about cyber attacks just like this one for fucking YEARS and they've done absolutely fuck all about it
yup! many businesses probably would never buy insurance if it wasn't a requirement by law too
We’ll see if this is a pattern, but I highly doubt that it will end being one. At least in the short term.
Reminds me of when I needed a uhaul but that specific uhaul was out of uhauls
They laughed at me like I was a dipshit and said there weren't any so close to a weekend! You could try calling the other one, but good luck finding one this late!! School is starting, kids are moving off to college!
All the other moving places and other uhauls had several uhauls
If you want to see some crazy shit, get the MSM to start talking about it. Panic buying will ensue.
They deliberately encourage copycats in order to boost ratings. Millions of people tune into the news when a shooting happens.
Here is an example of the media glorifying a killer for ratings: 30 second Video: Sheriff asks media not to report Oregon shooter's name, CNN ignores request and does it anyway, including publishing his social media comments. (Note: video was edited by uploader to censor CNN's publishing of the shooter's name)
It's worth it to watch that clip a few times. It's so insane that we allow this.
Yes, but suicides are mundane and don't increase ratings like mass killings do
Here's the article from NPR on the gas shortage, posted 3 hours ago.

Here's the article from the NPR station local to Asheville, NC.
https://www.bpr.org/post/panic-buying-causes-gas-shortage-wncI'm gonna need chemo after reading some of those replies. Like what is going on with your life that you need to come on twitter and write the most inane bullshit? It must take more effort to not post than to post for these people
Live in Wilmington and every media has been covering this. Mostly that there's no shortage and not to block traffic by the ports so the trucks can load up and deliver. It's the same shit with the to from last year; people panic buying and running the immediate supply low. Only this time, the back supply is there.
The story right now is "inflation". People have too much money, they're spending more than that t should, and they aren't working hard enough to earn it.
If your gas station is empty, this signals a serious moral failing happening in Asheville right now.
Katie Herzog is the host of some podcast called "Blocked and Reported". I never heard it, don't know what it's about.
Asheville is a city in North Carolina. North Carolina is one of the states most affected by the gas cyber attack.
Blocked and Reported is hosted by her and notorious transphobe Jesse Singal, I only know about it from Blocked Party (hosted by leftist gremlin Stephan Heck and his boring friend) who says they stole their bit. I assume it's this lady and Singal complaining an hour a week about all the trans-people and leftists posting PPB in their mentions.
