If I wanted to be taken serious, I would simply not choose a name that instantly reminds people of pedophiles

      You're saying this on Hexbear.com

So I get what you're saying, but honestly I haven't seen a reference to pedobear in the wild in probably like ten years. I get the feeling only the channers and other terminally-online messageboard types know about it.

              Like us

Which is why it should have been considered and avoided in becoming the official site name

No this is stupid, literally not even the place where that meme originated remembers it. The only people who would ever think such a thing are people who unironically call themselves "Internet/Meme historians".

Bears are cool and good, but it's dumb to ignore the obvious connection to our sitename we're trying to spread and grow and the infamous pedophilia mascot.

Site was better when it was called chapo.chat and the hexbear was just a logo meme.

I uh... never even considered this until you brought it up?

I mean ____ bear isn't that uncommon, you got Panda Bears, Grizzly Bears, Drop Bears, Polar Bears, Sloth Bears, Sun Bears, Spectacled Bears, Kodiak Bears, Cave Bears, Cinnamon Bears, Glacial Bears, and now Hex Bears.

Also after this Bear doesn't look like a real word.

It's one of the first things people think about when they hear about obscure internet forums suffixed with -bear.

Which is why shifting to this name (especially after ousting our admin over false pedophilia claims) was a terrible idea.

Lots of banned accounts in this comments section. You love to see it, folks. Also:

    lolli.com

that is a very libertarian website name.

It looked around to find where this whole "75% of bitcoins are minded with renewable energy" thing comes from and turns outs it's technically true in a sense that Xinjiang has a hydroelectric station as a part of it's power grid. The word "with" does a lot of heavy lifting.

Elon suspending Bitcoin payments due to unsustainable mining practices

I find it hard to believe he didn't know. Plus his own company's mining practices are unsustainable.

Yeah I'm absolutely sure there's some ulterior motive here. I heavily doubt he's doing this out of some sense of duty for the planet

He's either in a cash crunch and needs an excuse to dump some bags, or he's trying to push the price down so that he can pick up more at a discount. "Buy a Tesla with Bitcoin" was always incredibly stupid. Who would buy a depreciating car with an appreciating, scares resource?

Legitimately I was watching a coin, sue me I sometimes take part in capitalism while living under it, and it dipped like 20% in about 15 seconds when he made that tweet and went back up as much a minute later. It crashed the exchange I was using lol.

It was pretty much across the board the same story, except most of them are still down.

Shit's wild that this guy has that much power on a "free" market lmao. I don't see how people aren't immediately seeing that as a huge flaw in the decentralized economy plan.
