There was no farewell episode. An amicable split would look very different. We'd have a goodbye episode filled with virgil's best clips, brie & virgil would be on as guests pitching their show, etc. Instead there's just a soulless press release? Something happened!

Someone mentioned a reason on twitter, but deleted it after 30 minutes as it was potentially embarrassing:

The best explanation I've found is this one form reddit :

I think he had a falling out with Will, to be honest. When he "returned," he thanked Will for having him on, which was weird, and at some point he made a weird joke about Will when he wasn't there. Will cracked a joke about, "not being allowed to get mad" at Virgil. Anyway... really weird shit. I definitely don't believe the whole, "it was amicable," angle. Something happened.

Anyone here have any info?

Virgil traveled to Greece in about 19 BC to revise the Aeneid. After meeting Augustus in Athens and deciding to return home, Virgil caught a fever while visiting a town near Megara. After crossing to Italy by ship, weakened with disease, Virgil died in Brundisium harbor on 21 September 19 BC.

What's the deal with an inactive account popping up to post about Virgil?

Yeah. I framed my comment with the possibility the post was made in good faith. The post was sketch though.

He also didn't appear on the 500th episode at all nor was he mentioned by any of the other hosts, the way this whole thing played out does seem a bit weird.

It looks like some split emerged after Bernie ate shit. It was such an Icarus moment, the Chapos clearly felt like they were on top of the world during those first few primaries

It wasn't just about Bernie though, I think they felt they were on the cusp of an apotheosis of the dirtbag left brand as the Chapos and their tour were also receiving a ton of coverage. They were probably already picturing themselves locking away Neera Tanden in an oubliette

Don't get me wrong, I understand why they felt that way and would've loved to see those guillotines being erected in Central Park, but as the Finnish proverb goes, "great joy is bound to end in sorrow, and laughing too long is bound to end in a fart"
