Playing as a male character: Man, what a mensch, that was so nice of them

Playing as a female character: Oh jesus, it's some nerd who thinks I'm a girl and this is some weird sex thing isn't it

Well it shows how much the idea of gender exists as a construct. Loving that modern-day transhumanism.

It's also hilariously sad that fantasy and videogame developers still insist on women being healer/support. I almost forgot about the concept of heal sluts.

      :bonk:

      No TF2?

Also I remember playing WoW in junior high on an RP server and getting to the inn in the first town, the whole building was full of people in their low poly underpants crouching on top of each other

Oh I'm sure this stuff is wholly accurate to White Mages in the FFXIV universe or whatever

Also implied to be a Nazi scientist. Just gives you motivation to do what you're supposed to do in the game, kill the healer first.

"Heal slut". I had to ban someone from my group because they kept making people uncomfortable due to this. They had a major meltdown when we blocked them from voicechat after i got some messages about it, and told them to cut it out.

I didn't even know it was a thing until i got about a dozen messages at the same time from some players. I don't play overwatch or whatever they were on, but we had a blanket ban on that type of behaviour. I muted them, then they spammed me with all sorts of bullshit and tried to guilt trip me. I banned them there and then.

I remember this being a very observable phenomenon playing WoW.

It's a supremely uncomfortable experience, can't imagine how awful it is for women who have to deal with that sort of stuff in real life

The best part if anyone talks to you at all there's always one guy who gets mad at you for 'getting special attention for being a girl' like bruh I'm just standing here.

Or my favourite, when you start trying to communicate with other players (you know, the point of an online game) and one of them gets annoyed at you for being an attention-seeking feeeemale.

It's like women existing at all pisses these people off.

Thats why I play as a male character a lot of the time because:

1.Easier to present as androgynous and get me some gender euphoria

        2.People just treat you normal.

I'd take the abuse just for the slightest bit of validation tbh
...but that probably just speaks to my unhealthy mental state.

It's somehow worse in a game than in real life. Games are supposed to be a plaxe of comfort and safety but there's always That Guy.
