All I know about this guy is that a conservative comedian used to sell shirts calling him a slur, so I kinda just assumed he was good
Yeah, he posted a video calling out Crowder for harassing him and using slurs and was basically instantly fired from Vox because of it.
Started his own channel but has only uploaded like 10 videos since 2020. Seems like he just said fuck it and gave up on being an online personality.
It was his continued railing against Crowder for that, and persistence in pestering Youtube to ban the motherfucker that led Vox to drop Maza.
Now he's got a breadtube-y channel of his own where he makes much more explicitly leftist content, though he wasn't always leftist.
It was probably the primary, the election, the pandemic, and the shit with Crowder that pushed him much further left.
That would do it. What's the quote?
"If a man's paycheck depends on him not knowing something, it's almost impossible to get him to learn it" or something
"It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it." - Upton Sinclair
This Upton Sinclair guy was definitely better with words than I am
Lmao that slaps. I started following Carlos quite sometime back when he was being harassed super hard by all these fucking assholes, I hardly remember what it was exactly but it was some bullshit and the dude needed some uncritical support. But he is a cooler dude it seems, a bit lib but who isnt lol. That post though is incredibly based, good for him
It was Crowder calling him slurs and getting him fired after he punched back.
He retweeted Adam from Citation Needed a few days ago too, so he's definitely alright.
Ohh yeah, I remember that now, he was getting death threats and people trying to fire him over some super tame take and then it ofc turned into/became more apparent it was mainly homophobia shit too.
He was always pretty lib but not one of the obnoxious blue wave types it seemed, so it's cool he is maybe branching out more on the ideology or at the very least, listening to some pretty rad dudes now
We all gotta start somewhere. I've interacted with him on twitter a couple times and I think he's genuine. He lost his job for calling out Crowder and said fuckit I'll do my own channel. So if anything he's more free to say what he really thinks now. These are the sort of people that are actually worth trying to push left.
Absolutely yeah, he didn't seem to drink the DNC juice and was pretty left already and those types are absolutely worth trying to ease them into more theory or however you wanna phrase jt.
If only those communist colleges I keep hearing about assigned 1 Parenti book the world would be a much better place
It also tells you fairly compactly what kind of leftist someone is.
I'll say the ultimate test is probably still the DPRK. PRC is at least the center of world trade with millions of foreigners coming and going every year.
Carlos Maza good, but not yet at his full potential.
His content produced on his own is lacking right now, and he seems to be pretty depressed.
mods please bring back the ability to downvote comments, this sucks
I haven't told anybody, and honestly I had forgotten for a while, but deep in the most primary point in my heart, Tsukino Usagi sits in zazen upon a blooming lotus flower, the light of satori emanating from her like a pool ebbing forth from a spring to animate my very being.
I have known this since I was smol (I had just forgotten for a while)
sailor moon good
to elaborate: reading the manga was a formative experience. it taught me unconditional love at a time when I really didn't feel like there was any way I could be loved outside of familial bonds. i was a lonely kid, the media i consumed gave me strength to persist.
With that skirt being so high up and the artist just not drawing an ass, this straight up looks like she’s just strutting around on two finger legs lol
Hey, if he's willing to admit he was wrong I'm cool with it. Daou was cool after he flipped.
Maza was also heavily indoctrinated by his education and involvement in Vox. From his recent Twitter activity, it seems like he's beginning to really understand the system of lies he was a part of at Vox. Like he's re-tweeting the Citations Needed guys lol.
Also, he's specifically not involved with any media right now, so he's not grifting as far as I can tell.
I'll never forgive Warrenites for their crimes during the war and the gulags they set up for tankies.
indoctrinated by his education and involvement in Vox

What. I don't think Carlos is like a member of the bourgeoisie. He came from a moderately well off Floridian Cuban family, so I think he's doing better than most from his demographic in terms of not being a totally reactionary shitheel.
By indoctrination, I just meant media consent loops. Like what Parenti describes in Inventing Reality. His firing from Vox dropped him out of that sphere of influence/financial incentive to ride the fence so I'm not surprised that he's starting to radicalize.
Also, I don't even have a Twitter. I just looked at his page and saw that he was engaging with this site's official podcast and thought it was cool.
