Thank you, Disney for continually reiterating that having money doesn't make one smarter, more creative, or more capable. Fucking hilarious shit.

It really just shows what little respect they have for filmgoers. They basically said "just remake the old one and these brainless dullards will go see it en masse." Then when the movies started to suck they got super reactionary and start pulling levers based on social media posts. That's how we got Palpatine back. Very stupid.
Just utter disdain for their audience. But they have a contingent of defenders who will eat every bit of slop except for diversity.
Gotta love the guys who cry when they give a strong role to a woman or a black guy but can't get over how cool Kylo Ren was.
When are we going to see another straight white guy with anger issues? When is it their turn?
Rey is such a Mary Sue! Why can't her character development be more like Luke? What do you mean it's exactly the same in every conceivable way?
Kylo Ren is still probably the most interesting character in the series if only because "manchild who gets angry" is more personality than the rest of the cast who were basically required to act like sapient cardboard
Finn's background as a child soldier could have made him the most interesting character if they actually used it instead of turning him into a comedy prop.
If you're only talking new trilogy you're probably right. At least he's a new character that has tangible ties to the original trilogy and has a mildly complex motivation he struggles with throughout the movies. In fact, if they hadn't decided his character was too popular and needed to be protected he would have made a great final antagonist over the randomly reincarnated Palpatine.
Stuff like Lost and Sherlock both proved that continuously demonstrating overt contempt for your audience is incredibly profitable at least in the anglosphere
I’m shocked we didn’t get Darth Jar Jar
Would have been too respectful a move for the franchise.
The Fans™ didn't like Jar Jar and the only guiding principal in this entire series was trying desperately to pander to market research
