Honestly, I think it's ok to have people who collect garbage. It would be completely inefficient to have everyone individually handle disposal of waste. And, in turn, the people who perform the essential service of garbage collection should be celebrated for their work. In a pre-communist world, this means they should be compensated well and have good benefits.

There's a big difference, I think, between relying on garbage collection and, say, looking down on garbage collectors or making their jobs harder by throwing away things you're not supposed to put in the trash.

There's no need to feel guilty about it in the abstract.

Complying with the fire marshal's orders is something I can get behind TBH, but considering how scummy real estate companies and landlords are,I would want them to provide evidence that the fire marshal actually wants that and they aren't just bullshitting.

If being called landlord hurts your feelings, then you should stop being a landlord.

For them, the problem is terminological and not the feudal relationship

How about we compromise by removing the landlords themselves, thus eliminating the need for such antiquated language

The pressure to simply sell a rental house to a buyer who will live in it is enormous. This is a dangerous loss of low-cost housing supply.

My god, heaven forbid that somebody would buy a house to live in and not to try to leech income through it! How could we ever hope to solve a housing crisis if people buy low cost houses and just live in them?!

Changing the language will not change the contradiction and will do absolutely nothing to the issue or to socialist organising whatsoever. It is the very peak of liberal idealist philosophy over materialist philosophy, the belief that if you change the ideas you will get material change is absurd.

People will just call the "housing providers" exploiters and bastards instead of calling the landlords exploiters and bastards. Also they'll find a new word for "housing provider" instead, like landnonce or fuckstick.
