Most of the votes counted thus far are in urban areas where the vote is far more split. This partial result makes me feel strongly that Castillo has this pretty squarely, or at least not as close as the other polling data showed. Castillo cleans up in rural areas and a vote this close in urban areas doesn’t bode well for Fujimori
A major percentage of votes from remote regions of Perú & Peruvians abroad has yet to arrive.
:seen-this-one: :evo:
The working-class, mainly indigenous people that emigrated for work to like Argentina voted heavily for Evo & Arce but the ones that emigrated to the likes of the USA and Canada did not. Very different types of emigrants.
All the aboard votes swing heavily for Fujimori so far, only country where it's not the case is Russia, but in all they account for a tiny percentage of voters so no sweat.
I get the impression that Castillo is more like an AMLO than an Evo. A lot of not terrible socdem policies but doesn't seem to want to so directly challenge US imperialism and finance capitalism within Peru, so the CIA might not view toppling him as all that worth it.
He seems to be steadily backing off his initial stated positions. If that's an actual backoff or just politics remains to be seen
The regional bourgeoisie whose mines are getting nationalized are more likely to want to bump him off.
He keeps narrowing the gap. But even if he wins this he'll still have to deal with vote manipulation, vote manipulation accusations, the inevitable CIA coup, a year of an intern government, another election, sanctions, an assassination or two, etc.
Difference is only 2.4% now :CommiePOGGERS:
Update: 1.5% now with 14% votes left to go :chicken-bop:
https://twitter.com/ONPE_oficial/status/1401834210751614976 1.1% now
It's going to be a nail-biter, will be very, very, very close at the end.
Broke: electing politicians
Woke: voting on ideas instead of people through true direct democracy
Bespoke: We appropriate corporate AI technology to predict what people want and automatically give it to them so that they don't even have to vote (FALGSC)
Joke: the choice between a fascist and a moderate socialist coming down to a couple thousand votes
Also Vonnegut is dope
Also Vonnegut is dope
Thanks! Also, an election depending on liberals splitting 50/50 between a moderate socialist and a straight-up fascist is completely expected, based on the history of the liberal psyche.
No, they've counted urban areas only which are more fash supporting. Rural voters love Hat Guy. It'll narrow.
50.1 to 49.9 with 8% remaining to be counted. Castillo is going to win
Where are you finding the tally? That official ONPE account still has him slightly down.

Ah, nice! I was looking at the results for all votes but that one's just for Peru, which is what matters today, right?
Ah fuck you're right that was only internal votes. Either way though he just poped up on the total votes https://www.resultadossep.eleccionesgenerales2021.pe/SEP2021/EleccionesPresidenciales/RePres/T
Some of the gusano vote hasn't come in yet? it makes sense that they are the last to come in and will be pro-Keiko
It must suck voting in elections like these outside the imperial core because in the back of your head you have to be thinking is this vote worth a US coup attempt
