Yeah there's some weird perspective going on on the right. They are literally the size of a fairly large fox though and their wingspan is probably over 5 feet.
It is like that one picture of a harpy eagle that everyone keeps posting. Yeah, they're fairly big but they're not humongous.

Edit: I think you are right if you only count the torso and the head.
Forced perspective in the photo makes it look massive, but even being a foot tall with that wingspan is still enormous

Just for everyone's info, the closest bat analog to COVID lacks an ACE2 binding domain and therefore is not a likely candidate for the genesis of the outbreak. It was probably a pangolin.
