      During the debate...

Kamala: "We are a strong democracy. This grand experiment will continue on for—"

MPG: "Kermela, Kermela, Kermela. Stop. What do the people want? They want their free pill—

Moderator: "MPG. I must interject. You must be respectful and you must allow Vice President Ka—"

MPG: Get your free WHITE POWER PILLOW at BloodAndSoil.com."

Moderator: "You are not allowed to mention websites during this deba—"

MPG: "Uh, huh. FREE WHITE POWER PILLOW at BloodAndSoil.com. Okay, mixed-breed can talk now."

At this point like a cartoon character - steam is coming of Kamala's ears in anger. She loses her poise and it's clear he's angry and annoyed the entire rest of the debate. Meanwhile MPG is lovin' it. A few days later an important poll says that the My Pillow Guy jumped 10 points. A week after the debate MPG says he's given away millions of pillow. Kamala's numbers never recover.

It's kind of amazing that they actually care more about civility and the rest of that crap more than they do democracy. I posted this in the megathread a couple days ago so you might have seen it already. Paul Krugman tells a joke by accident. The second sentence is the punchline...

[Biden] is neither proposing nor promising a revolution, just policies that would make Americans' lives significantly better. And I, for one, find this hugely refreshing after Former Guy's achievement-free bombast.

"I, for one" and then Krugman followed it up by trying to pretend Trump wasn't actually president. In a parody - it would have never occurred to me to have a lib call Trump "Former Guy".

she literally pulled a "we see you and hear you" at 5:22

LH: you haven't been to the border

KH: ...and I haven't been to Europe, [nervous laughter] I don't understand the point that you're making

    :cringe:

Holt: Do you have any plans to visit the border?

Harris: I'm here in Guatemala today. At some point. We are going to the border. We've been to the border. So, this whole thing about the border---we've been to the border. We've been to the border.

Holt: You haven't been to the border.

      Wow lol

        ‘I’ —> inclusive we —> general we-that-is-not-me

Also equating Guatemala to “the US-Mexican border” is crappy and kind of racist

I know and in a way she’s telling on herself because through bribes and threats to Mexico, the US is essentially extending enforcement of the US-MEX border to MEX-GUAT.

            She sucks so much.

Look, nobody knows the border than me, believe me. Believe me. We know the border. We've been to the border. We've been to the border. We've been---we are the border, okay folks? People come up to me all the time and tell me how much of a border I am. The lying fake news media says I've never been to the border. :trump-anguish:

I wonder if anything happened to Guatemala in 1954 that has had long-lasting effects?

Funny story. South Korea once tried investing in us and had some companies set up here. Articles by American companies began being pushed about how harsh the conditions were for these workers, which eventually led to protests against them. Now there's much less of them and even more American businesses doing more or less the same thing.

Got some Veep vibes from the "some people might not think [visiting Guatemala to get at root causes of emigration] is important, but I do" deflection from why she hasn't visited the border.

why she hasn’t visited the border.

Gonna be honest, I don't get why people are putting all this value on a photo op. She visited the border once before (at least) and we've made fun of some of the imagery that came out of that. We've made fun of the imagery that came out of candidate AOC's participation in a protest at the border. We'd make fun of anyone doing cringe photo ops there. Now all of a sudden it matters, even though we know damn good and well it won't change a damn thing?

edit: This is what people are asking for more of?

Because the travesties there are, of course, continuing under their administration even though they highlighted them as a monstrous act by the Trump admin. That is why they are adverse to doing such a photo op - it would not be in the context of "resistance", but as "reluctant facilitator" (per their PR strategies), and they would rather not talk about it at all. It's also an opportunity for activists to protest and for journalists to ask more questions about their sociopathic policies.

It's a 100% downside situation for them, just damage control stuff.

Reminds me of Dave Anthony blowing up over AOC saying some lib shit about the capital being hallowed ground for democracy; just yelling about Honduras and the Biden plan and what the fuck america is. It would be more moral and legitimate than anything we have done, if these nations did intend to destabilize our guilty nation
