I like the slightly stale smell of a large body of water. Sort of like the watery freshness plus all the seaweed flora, some dead some alive, combine into the smell of adventure.

Tobacco smoke, but only when it is someone else who's smoking.

Tea tree oil is just great.

The smell of coffee when I've just started roasting it. People love the smell of coffee being brewed, and that's also amazing, but few people know how great it smells while being roasted.

I buy them in bulk locally, there's a distributor in Minas Gerais where you can find some of the best beans in Brazil, and all their beans are very sustainable, lots of agricultural co-ops that do amazing work. I know they ship worldwide, but it's probably only for very large quantities. If you're in the US, I only hear great things about the coffees from Sweet Maria's .

Everybody should be roasting their own coffee, really. It's very easy to do with a cheap popcorn popper, and it's a great "topic" for all kinds of weekend DIY projects. I recently customized my farmhouse drum roaster, added a thermometer and a fixed stand, and I've also been practicing roasting with a heat gun and a colander. It's very fun, and it makes my place smell great afterwards.
