    Uf da. Fixing your own shitbox is also rapidly disappearing as an option for many. You need tools, a garage, and time.

        My apartment has like a $500 fine to do anything other than emergency repairs, but the local oreillys lends you tools and lets you work in their parking lot so ig that works

      lol on my apartment hunt, at one complex they all had garages attached, but you had to pay an extra $150 /month to use them.. I guess they lock them and leave them vacant otherwise? really stupid

        Working on your car in the street is illegal in my city. It doesn't stop most folks, but Jesus that's such a huge middle finger to renters.

        Edit: that's a lie. I looked it up and I'm talking out my ass just parroting what a neighbor told me years ago.
