worldnews really swings between good and bad like a metronome. Like when Luis Acre won the news thread was largely celebratory with lots of support for Morales.

Most of whom also have close ties to the US, or at least closer ties than to China.
So it's a bunch of states that are in some way dependent on or under the thumb of the US and they're still contradicting the narrative the US is pushing.
