You know, compared with other places/products.

Like, I don't know where is it, I know there's one somewhere in Florida and other near Paris, but there's almost no references about it in movies and any media.

And I have no idea what's inside except for people who went and told me.

The performers are treated like absolute garbage though unfortunately. Their humanity is sacrificed in favor of maintaining the grand illusion.

Yeah, I had this realization the other day when my parents were talking about our trip to Disney when I was a kid. It really kills me that Disney really is out there exploiting the shit out of the character actors who just want to make kids happy. Bittersweet is a very nice way to put it.

The real draw I assume is the “Experiences” where you feel like you’re in the specific movie. You can pretend to be a jedi and fight Darth Vader. It looks silly as an adult, but as a kid the spectacle is bar none. I did the pirate one as a kid and it was pretty cool.

I was fortunate enough to go to Eurodisney as a kid. And the most vivid part of the memories for me are actually the before and after part of the rides. The build up to the ride, and the feeling of conquering it afterwards.

I in particular remember the Star Wars flight simulator ride in which the build up to riding was basically a space port, then the ride itself was supposed to be a pleasure flight by a droid but it goes horribly wrong and the shuttle has to take evasive maneouvres through a warzone diving in and out of wrecks and so on. The after part felt like surviving.

This is all supported by absolutely brilliant music placed in the build up and after part of the experience to really boost the emotions involved.

Of course all parks attempt to do something like this but I am quite sure that the overall experience is much much more tailored and carefully constructed at Disney compared to the average theme park. It's about the emotional experience at all times, not just the rides.

Imagine how great the Disney employees would be if the employees owned the park...

It's fun when you're a kid and can embrace the spectacle / aren't aware of the exploitation. You don't see it advertised because of exactly what you noted. Everyone knows about going to Disney, no reason to stoop to advertising it. The OG Disneyland is in Anaheim. The one in Florida, they built by forming shell companies, secretly buying out all the orange groves on some land south of Orlando, and forming their own municipalities essentially. Super fucked up. There are a bunch of other Disneylands internationally: Paris, Tokyo, the other ones.

Orlando! That's the place! What's the link between Orlando and New Orleans?

I get one being started by the french and other by spain but do they reference tje same place in France?

      "Anaheim" sounds cool

Lmao, no idea. New Orleans seems cool, don't think the names are at all related.

Anaheim is unfortunately just one of the cities in shitty conservative Orange county, outer LA. Sounds like it'd be cool though.

It's probably the biggest spectacle America has to offer, like a military parade for Disney's intellectual properties. Bread and circuses and all that (I hear the food there is good too)

P.S. I never want to bother people about misspellings but I have no idea what word "baing" is supposed to be

Oh okay, so you're saying "why is it famous even though there's not much publicity about it". At least when I was growing up (middle class early 2000s), lots of people talked about it as the ultimate vacation to surprise their kids with (viral videos about such surprises would be popular on the news), and famous contest winners were known to yell "I'm going to Disney World" after a victory. The Disney Channel was like 1/3 of kids' television at the time and it ran adverts for the place constantly, such as exclusive sneak peaks of future attractions. Idk if they still run such a campaign but I remember the place having a serious cultural presence

Yeah in latam rich douches go on vacation there and then tells you how awesome it was IF you cutted line else you need to wait 90 minutes waiting to get on whatever thing.

And I really hate the concept of travelling to fucking Florida when there are far more interesting places to visit if you have the fucking money.

Like, it's the last place I would go in the US if I had to go to the US.

As a former themed entertainment worker, a bougie tour group from Brazil was the worst thing we could see walking down the street.

I visited when I was a kid and I remember being underwhelmed but I've never been a Disney person. I guess it's fun if you like Disney movies and what not, you can go on rides. I guess, idk.

They own several TV networks aimed at kids and do advertise heavily on there. I should think they do online as well, but wouldn't know where as i've not been exposed

It doesn't need as much PR because it has already put in the work to be such an institution, like monetary funds sustained by their own interest. NO ONE can touch Disney in the theme park game; the numbers aren't even close.

Disney adults are fucking weird. Like, there are plenty of better places to go than fucking Disney.

If you want to go to a theme park, the rides aren't even that fun. Go to Ohio if you want to go to a good theme park. Not much else in that state, though.

i've been to disneyworlds epcot and animal kingdom and prob never go again honestly. if i wanted foreign food i would just look up restaurants near me, so epcot is a waste of money and time. animal kingdom was wack only went cuz it was a free trip from school, but its probably a better park now that they got the Avatar section. maybe i'll go to the other 2 parks someday idk.

i use to go to the free boardwalk area around a lake when i was stoned and bored with some buddies, but thats it
