Imagine thinking up this idea and not then immediately realizing you're a cartoon villain. Do these people have no feelings or do they actually love being evil?

too old to see the height of the soviet union, too young to see the fall of capitalism

Well see the fall of capitalism one way or another comrade, the only question is weather we will have to power to replace it

Isn't there an apocalypse scenario where a series of satellite collisions create a chain reaction of space debris taking out all the low orbit satellites and ruining space travel for the foreseeable future?

One of these is going to cause that.

Can't wait for pollution to block out all the stars. At least we'll have the Olive Garden constellation

Is this actually going somewhere or is this another of Elon's proposals that go nowhere but generate a lot of hype?

The satellite will have a screen on one side where people and companies can bid to have their logos and advertisements displayed, along with a “selfie stick” that’ll snap photos of the ads with the Earth in the background. Thankfully, the system won’t be visible from the ground

Looks like the author made some important edits after the screenshot was taken. A cubesat can’t have a “massive screen”; cubesats are teeny.

Corporations would put massive, visible-from-the-ground billboards into space in a heartbeat if they could, but we’re fortunately not there yet.

I’m trying to achieve something that can democratize access to space and allow for decentralized participation,” Reid said to Insider. “Hopefully, people don’t waste money on something inappropriate, insulting or offensive.”

Love to democratize access to space by ensuring that only the wealthy mega corporations will be able to participate.

Classic brain worms. His main concern is that someone will say something insulting or inappropriate. No qualms about the fact that he is launching an idol to capitalism into space at immense cost for no reason. Just a big ugly shitty thing in the sky that Coke will buy ad space on during Pride Month.

It's the whole civility thing. Nevermind the fact that what he is doing is inherently distasteful/ something a cartoon villain would do, what would really be bad is if someone said a bad word or said something mean.

We believe that nothing is more important than LBGT+ equality. That's why this Pride Month we here at Coca Cola are shouting it from the highest mountaintop that we could find.

Non-zero chance that WW3 will start after this thing puts a Dickbutt in orbit and someone shoots a missile at it
