Fall From Heaven II is a Dark Fantasy mod for Civilization IV, arising from the CivFanatics Civ boards, and one of the game's most famous mods. It is vaguely based on the originator (Derek "Kael" Paxton)'s long-running Dungeons & Dragons game, and D&D's influence on the setting really shows.

After the Age of Ice, the various tribes of the world of Erebus are forming into civilizations once again, seeking to reclaim the glories of a previous age, leave their own mark upon Erebus, conquer everything in sight, or just blow it all to Hell. But untamed Erebus is not a nice place, and many of the civilizations (possibly including your own) will quite happily make it even worse.

Fall from Heaven II completely changes the game, adding a whole set of completely new concepts. Some of these concepts are, Magic and Spellcasters, Religions that affect the way you play, and other major and minor changes to diplomacy, combat, victory conditions, and more.

Magic

Magic is a new feature unique to FFH2 (not found in Civilization IV). It introduces a new dimension of gameplay by allowing the existence of Arcane and Disciple units, which can complement and even supplement (at times) the conventional Melee, Mounted, Archery and Siege Weapons.

Arcane units are generally traditional magic-users associated with wizards, sorcerers, channelers and oracles, and Disciple units are generally religion-based magic-users associated with priests, clerics, and healers.

There a 21 Spheres of magic, with each sphere being associated with one of the 21 gods, and each of the 21 different civilizations being associated with a sphere and its respective god. The number 21, as well as 3 and 7, come up a lot in the lore and gameplay, if you'll notice.

Civilizations

As I just said, there are 21 civilizations, each of which follow one of the alignments. However, this is not a hard and fast list: the religion you follow can change your alignment, and some of the different leaders with a civilization can have a different alignment. Each civ is associated with an element and Angel (god). With that said, here as a list of them:

The Good-Aligned Civs:

  • The Bannor, holy crusaders and templars. Element: Law. God: Junil, Angel of Justice, transcendant law and submission to authority.

  • The Elohim, diplomats and defenders of Holy places. Element: Spirit God: Sirona, Angel of Wisdom, charity and goodness.

  • The Kuriotates, "children" of the Gold Dragon. Element: Creation God: Amatheon, Angel of Fertility, youth, creation and emergence.

  • The Luchuirp, dwarven Golem crafters. Element: Enchantment God: Nantosuelta, Angel of Faith, and direct self-improvement.

  • The Malakim, desert nomads and priests. Element: Sun God: Lugus, Angel of Light, Revelation and honesty.

  • The Illians, legacy of the fallen god of winter. Element: Ice God: Mulcarn, former Angel of Ice, now Angel of Winter and reactionnarism. Killed at the end of Fall from Heaven: Age of Ice, he is in the way of being replaced by Auric Ulvin.

Previous answer

No. A knight moves from a black square to a white one and vice versa. From a1 (a black square) after 1, 3, 5, …, 61, 63 moves the knight is on a white square. Since it takes them 63 moves to visit all 64 squares minus the one they start on, they should end on white. But h8 is black.

Proof by contradictions

When two statements A and B are mutually exclusive, only one is true. Proving A true by proving B false is called proof by contradiction.

Example: The sum of two numbers is 75. The first is larger than the second by 15. Prove by contradiction that the second number is 30.

Solution: :expert-shapiro: Suppose the second number is not 30. Then it is either greater than 30 or less than 30. If it is greater than 30, the first number is greater than 45 and their sum is greater than 75, which is impossible. If it is less than 30, the first number is less than 45, and their sum is less than 75, which is also impossible.

Therefore, the second number is 30.

Use proof by contradiction!

(A) The product of two integers is greater than 75. Prove that at least one integer is greater than 8.

(B) The product of a certain two-digit number by 5 is a two-digit number. Prove that the first digit of the multipicand is 1.

Like usual have fun :soviet-heart: and remember to dm @Wmill the answers.
