all this does is just push more people to pirate 🤷♀️
It's what I've been doing. With software that allows you to stream well seeded torrents, and movies being released on streaming platforms on the same day or even before the theatrical release in my country (meaning it's easy to rip and upload them), I've been pirating everything like that lol
I already use Plex, I just wish there was a way to get things streaming on demand from torrents, kinda like popcorn time, but on my tv. There used to be an android tv app for popcorn time but it doesn't work.
You can try see if you can install and run the stremio android app on your smart tv, if it's an android based smart tv. Details in the post and comments on hexbear here
Lower Decks at least is saved by being a comedy, meaning that it's spared of the weepy melodrama that permeates the other shows.
It's also harder for the showrunners to just straight up forget plot threads like they do in DIS and PIC.
It's also the one that's being made by people who actually like Star Trek. It's top to bottom Trekkies on staff.
Agreed on The Orville, it's the vanity project I'd make more or less as well.
I pay for Netflix bc I’ve had it since it was the only game in town and for my partner who uses it. And I have HBO+ or whatever it’s called through my isp and I literally never use either. I just pirate or use illegal streaming sites for everything lol
Damn dude sucks there is no way around this. Just an intractable problem.
:yes-chad:
But it's the principle of the matter that's important!
Totally agree on those. Disco doesn't know what it is and Picard is just a travesty. Lower Decks intentionally feels like Trek. It took me a bit to warm up to it, but once I did I can actually say it's probably the strongest first season a trek show has had. The comedy is kinda just sprinkled on and the plots are legit trek stuff. I found on my first watch I was iffy til around the end of the season and once I was won over I liked all the earlier episodes more as well.
DS9, TOS , Voyager and Enterprise all had pretty good first seasons, they were still finding their footing but that's typical of the first season of anything
Thanks been after a new free stream app as the ones i'm using now are a little shitty.
I've been using a seedbox with great results, never got a "letter" to my isp while using it. Plex server has been amazing.
Better time probably would have been like 18 months ago when components were cheaper
I think you can buy a whole NAS box, probably goes cheaper currently than buying the box on a per component basis, dunno maybe you can hook it up to a raspi or something? likely the raspberry pi already has a built in H.264 transcoder, but I figure it wouldn't be too flexible with other codecs
with private trackers you don't need a VPN; rights-holder crawlers have to this point been satisfied policing public torrents
if your tracker gets too big it might get shut down but so far the couple instances of that (what.cd for example) have not filtered down to swarm members
check out r/trackers there's a lot of debate and people like to make ranking lists
I'm not really that in the scene I just gathered a few over many years, I am terrible at bb-style forums so I never manage to get the perks or get recruited
In the 80s, cable TV was originally billed as being ad-free, and that's why you paid for it. That all changed pretty quick though...
Last year i was visiting my parents and checked out normal cable TV and lo and behold new episode of Lower Decks, turns out in Canada it's been airing on normal TV
