Some of the best/most realistic depictions of naval combat of the era too. Great character development as well

I would agree with this. The middle parts were some of the best television I ever watched! The beginning was a little ham handed by comparison for sure, and while the end didn't feel sloppy I just think it struggled to live up to the legendary middle bit.

It's hard to end something that good I guess.
