I fucking hate seeing this Reddit shit about “how do our troops and families of killed troops feel about this” like motherfucker we should have never been there in the first place and more importantly what about the Afghanis ?!? We fucked their country up, slaughtered them, and allowed for a entity like the Taliban to exist because of shit we did there back in the 80s!
'a better life' is when some coloniser bombs your wedding and then hangs around to bomb the medical response
'a better life' is when the occupiers train local security forces to be death squads that inflict terror 'to defend the community'
'a better life' is when the imperialist powers see you as subhumans because the reactionary zealots THEY FUNDED AND ARMED took power
The only people who had better lives were the corrupt government officials fattening their wallets on the opium trade.
Honestly yeah, it looks a bit dated now, but the facial animation tech was mind blowing at the time and is still pretty good. If you don't hate the idea of role playing as a cop and you like detective/mystery solving content, it's probably one of the best games for it. I wish it was a bit more heavily stylized and had some more of the sort of noir PI detective aesthetic choices. LET ME WEAR A TRENCH COAT, DAMMIT!
Redditors and vets like these are scums. Only a scum would pat themselves on the back for hanging around in a place where the only damage was caused by them in the first place.
20 years of occupation and only "some people" having it good probably means you did a very fucked up job, and let some criminals loot the billions that were supposed to go towards rebuilding the country (not that it was enough to begin with).
All this bullshit about Afghanistan being better now flies in the fucking face of what's actually happening on the ground. There's no way it would be this easy for the Taliban to slice and dice its way to the capital if the populace had really been shown a better way.
There now exist luxury real estate developments and gated suburbs in Kabul complete with grass lawns. America exported the gaudiest most alienated form of living to Afghanistan and called it better.
yeah well okay what have you done to improve
your fellow manincrease property values in the name of cultural imperialism
Apparently, freedom looks like a Navy Seal choking out a Green Beret as a prelude to sodomizing him and filming it, then finding out you killed him instead.
And a shit load more saw their family members executed in night time no-knock raids.
And that's just the "legal" approved stuff, never mind the
spoiler
torture of civilians, rape, and pedophilia
committed by some of those high minded vets.
Since everything 2000's is getting rebooted, we'll probably get a flurry of "American Soldier is Sad" movies very soon...
