Blue MAGA 🤝 Red MAGA
:morshupls: explaining how these two photos are not alike and how we actually won both of those wars
Most military craft are older than you would think. Did you know F-16s are from the mid 70s? The first of them were deployed months before the Vietnam picture was taken.
huh, i would have guessed 80s at the earliest
you learn something new every day
Most military equipment is fucking old. For example the main HMG the military uses, the M2. .50 cal machine gun, has been in use since ww2.
"Fixing it" would involve billions of dollars in weapons contractor spending so honestly I don't know why they're using anything more than a decade old at this point
bro the us was still operating its essex class carriers from ww2 in the like early 90s
It's not a "omg old" thing, it's a "i thought that particular model of helicopter was a bit newer" thing
i didn't mean to be hostile, i was just adding another example that i found amusing
The classic Vietnam footage was US soldiers stampeding down the ramp of the Jolly Green Giant.
yeah, the helicopters i associate with that period are the jolly green giant, the huey, and the supercobra
Saigon renamed to Ho Chi Minh City
Kabul renamed to. . .
:uncle-ho-2:
I can't seem to find a source for the supposed Vietnam photo on the right. The famous Fall of Saigon photo is completely different.
The Viet Cong did not take Saigon. They were destroyed during the Tet Offensive in 1968.
Some say the PAVN ordered them to attack deliberately, knowing the Americans would slaughter them. Thereafter the PAVN had Vietnam to itself without any pesky interlopers.
