This is the kind of direction the redesign should have taken. Instead, they made it slower, harder to navigate, and more frustrating.
Custom CSS never should have gone away too, that was a ridiculous decision. Reddit grew on empowering users and communities to do their own thing... They completely forgot that in the redesign and actively tried to take away many things that formed a core identity of each community.
It's like an actual improvement over old.reddit. Feels more immediate though, really good stuff.
Favorite new thing is that I don't have to refresh anymore to see upvotes/ downvotes and new comments come in
