yes, I did stop lurking specifically to post this screenshot about the dress
Also, since I don't see it talked about around here much, ATTENTION Kshama is currently in a recall fight with the recall vote (which will then trigger an election) coming up in a few months, consider donating to the solidarity campaign or phonebanking or some shit, I know some of you libs still volunteer for beto
There's no illusion here in bourgeoise electoralism, the potential power is meant as in, the platform and organizational capacity as a rallying point for the local working class, rather than by wielding the levers of state power. Like Debbs, or kshama's role in getting $15/ tax amazon and her role in local BLM, or what Bernie should have done instead of disappearing, he should have used his position and noteriety to act as a pole for the working class.
I'm not sure how wearing a dress prevents her from doing that, first off. Secondly, I don't see how she's any different than anyone else, except in her access to the levers of state power.
Oh, the dress isn't what's preventing her from doing that, her desire to work within the establishment is, she's the one doing that. You're right, she's not different from anyone else if they happened to haver her position with a national platform. I'm saying that she's bad, because here she is wearing a dress that says "Tax The Rich" but within a year she will fail to ever act towards that goal if not outright act against it, just as we've seen with m4a etc.
To expand: even if you think this dress stunt was actually a good idea for raising awareness or such, she's wearing this dress to one of the richiest parties ever. Maybe if she emblazened tax the rich over all her clothes and wore it to congress every day, always making it a point to discuss it, always forcing it into attention, maybe then it would do something, in the way of just raising familiarity with the concept like how bernie forced the conversation about m4a, MAYBE it would do something then
but instead she gets that glamorous picture of her for articles and girl-boss praise, and the media and every single non-online leftist will forget about it after 2 weeks when something else happens
Oh god, not Force the Vote again. You people just will not shut up about it. I'm going to be hearing about this incessantly for the next 10 years, aren't I? Christ.
Actually, I think it was a good idea because it gave terminally online people something to be mad about. Which is what they want, even if they won't admit it. Otherwise they can't post takes and would just be bored. Beyond that, it had no effect on anything and I'd prefer to have no opinion on it, but people keep talking about it so here we are.

Obviously I'm also terminally online as evidenced by the fact that I'm talking about this bullshit.
:corn-man-khrush:
Yeah, good. okay
Yea, I'll never understand those against force the vote. Its activism that would work. Just look at Joe Manchin. What kind of person claims those for genuine activism are "terminally online"? That's clearly the opposite of what what they think "terminally online" and "activism" means. Which is why I cant see those sort as an ali. Its projection and deflection. No change for beneficial progress has ever been made without activism. It was never done by a few hand picked idols. Those against force the vote has only further shown themselves to be complicit with the way things are. The fact that they never provide an alternative that would reach anything of progress, is proof they dont actually care about changing anything.
