      TPP is an anti China alliance and one of the reasons for creating the BRI so I doubt they're serious.

      Even if they join, what's it going to do? Do you really think they'd abide by anything that impinges on their sovereignty?

        what's the point of applying to join if they don't intend to follow the requirements of the agreement? either this is a political move designed to show exactly what the TPP is (which would be cool, and good) or it's a pretty lame step for an AES state to be making

          This is obviously a political ploy. As I said, why would China give up sovereignty? As I also said, it would be hilarious if they were let in because they definitely wouldn't abide by the rules.

            yea, i think you're right, having read a little more about this. it seems pretty obviously a ploy. we'll see what happens but i think my original statement was a bit short sighted here
