regarding the takedown report on this guy. its a shitty source but its main points are solid because they just compile the blunders that eritreans already have made public.

so, this dude is actually a communist. so question one is if there is a leftist case for eritrea? im gonna go ahead and say its ok to completely miss sometimes.

my earlier pro-tplf stances have been moderated. its clearly much more complex than other such types of conflicts. while tplf were close to china and abiys ascent cooled that relationship, its also clear that we're seeing now that there are strong ties to the US there aswell. also its abundantly evident that a one-sided narrative has been built and undue amplified by the west and the whole un-ngo complex. so i guess it makes more sense to leave this on the backburner and just remain principled non-interventionists. but that doesn't justify that this guy and narrative is being pushed beyond non-interventionism and into revisionism and a pro-gov stance. he's been on people's forum, on bt news and is being followed by all out terminally online favourites.

so what do we make of this, people?

i was vaguely suspicious as tplf was discussed at "pro-democratic forces" by western media, but the coalition that made up the tplf seemed to range from liberal democrats to communists, which is fairly common in a conflict against a tyrannical/murderous government. but who knows, i have never been to the horn of africa. i got local politics to worry about.

i should clarify that this is a piece against a certain simon tesfamariam who have been on people's forum and breakthrough news, and quickly became absorbed in the usual terminally only anti-imperialist clique. my post conflates this with a general critique of the line that's been taken by all of these guys towards the war in ethiopia. since this is proof that there are some institutional ties here, i think the rest of the gang pushes unreasonable takes because there is a cooperated op with eritrean and ethiopian govs as they sandwich tplf on the battlefield. this is corroborated by other media production where academics and former? senior officials associated with eritrea have been guests (btnews again).

bonus: tesfamariam has a very neat archive of propaganda against eritrea: http://web.archive.org/web/20200921114204/https://redseafisher.wordpress.com/2013/01/24/the-eritrean-coup-that-never-was/#comments
