This has been proven true literally every time economists have checked. Immigration makes an economy bigger, which benefits everyone. Our current immigration regime though requires that undocumented migrants be constantly under threat of deportation, which allows them to be exploited harder than the average american because they can't complain without being kicked out.
Yep. In this case immigrants aren't being used to bolster labor power and build a better world, they're being used as a reserve army of labor to drive down wages for citizens and generate massive profit for companies that hire them with essentially no labor rights (usually agricultural sector).
They are scared shitless of the type of instability that might kick off after what happened in Europe. Especially since both parties buy into the idea the migrants would suppress wages even further.
Depends on what you value. If you value white hegemony and race based hierarchy, then an exorbitant waste of money spent on brutalizing and dehumanizing people is probably worth it to you. And if you internalize that racial hierarchy, you find some other excuse.
Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to just let the migrants in and give them jobs
unironically like this is kinda stupid this is a fuck huge country

this entire political and economic system is dumb real world problems are too hard and complicated
Guess what suppresses wages even more than immigration? Undocumented immigrantion.
They're just doing it in Del Rio where the Haitians are. Really, this is just posturing because Abbott's approval ratings are shit and he's desperate.

it's theatrics and Abbott will only do this until people stop paying attention in 2 weeks
