    Imo what China does with their internet has nothing to do with censoring any information or speach; it's not even any good at that anyway, VPNs are easy and available. It's all about excluding foreign tech companies from their market so that homegrown tech and grow and develop.

    Ultimately if Chinese tech starts to eclipse western firms i wouldn't be surprised if the US tries to do the same thing, hopefully it'll just be too and late and in vain. The whole TikTok ban drama would be an early example of just such a thing

      Ok which i guess now that I think about it if we're using the capitalist definition of freedom, which is just freedom for capital to do whatever it wants, then yeah China's internet isn't very free lmao

      Without Facebook dominating social media market share in China, how will the Chinese get valuable informational headers about what is and is not fake news?

      This is clearly an attack on western liberal values.
