Pod Damn America did one at about the same time if there are any spooky gothic socialists in here.
Best way to learn is by doing they say. Simply become John brown
Pod Damn America also did a multi part series. I want to say that PDA and The Dollop used one of the same sources.
The Dollop's sources from their website. . Scroll ALL the way down to the bottom.
This is the book that PDA used, " John Brown, Abolitionist: The Man Who Killed Slavery, Sparked the Civil War, and Seeded Civil Rights" . Found a few listings on a Libgen site that I use, one is an epub.
WEB DuBois wrote a biography on him
There's also the Life and Letters of John Brown by Franklin Benjamin Sanborn, which seems good. Franklin Benjamin Sanborn helped Brown get funding for his raid on Harper's Ferry
Library Genesis: Tony Horwitz - Midnight Rising: John Brown and the Raid That Sparked the Civil War a decent read, made me dislike Good Lord Bird a little. I second the Dollop's great 3 part series on John Brown, they had me tearing up at the end.
Matt did some great cushvlogs where he discussed the book Cloudsplitter in sections, I'd recommend those
A fictional memoir of John Brown from the point of view of his son. According to Matt, very useful for understanding the kind of pre-modern mentality that gave John Brown the resolve to fight for his ideals, which doesn't really exist anymore on the American left.
here's one from that period of vlogs but I don't know if you should go backward or forward from here:
