What's funny is that people here felt guilty over listening to her music because she dated Musk so they constructed this idea that she was a secret communist and that means it's okay to listen to her music. Which it is okay. Nobody cares. I don't know why people feel guilty in the first place. It's okay to consume media that isn't communist. It's okay to like people that aren't leftists. All this guilt and, even worse, the people who do think it's bad to like Grimes' music, is purely internet-brained shit. Communism isn't when people consume media.

yeah tbh even before she dated musk she never struck me as particularly coherent politically. People just got ideas in their head because oooh she's a quirky white girl making electronic music she must be a communist.

She did have 'anti imperialist' as her Twitter bio or whatever back in the day but even then I never saw any evidence that she knew what that meant besides like... Iraq war bad

There's an ocean of artists that I listen to that probably have bad politics we just don't know it and that's like... Whatever. Kero kero bonito could come out as a Kamala Stan and people would be posting about how they "feel betrayed" and like... What do you mean she never brought that stuff up in the first plqce

It's funny how often this needs to be said. Thinking that consumer choice matters is literally the most liberal thing you can believe, and it's frustrating that there's this sizable chunk on here that will give you shit for enjoying the "wrong" media.
