Biden won the 2020 election in large part because he was able to win the center... That's why it should be alarming to Biden that the recent downturn in his approval rating has come disproportionately from independents.
Trump's utter shitshow of a pandemic response really flipped a lot of things on their head just in time for election season. We (rightfully) make fun of the Dems for not doing better against him but, in hindsight, he really ensured their "landslide" victory to begin with. Maybe this will carry over into 2024.

I imagine 2024 will be stupid close and could go either way too. Anyone telling you one party is obviously favored in 2024 is seriously overconfident.
