        If you like, you can rephrase it as "as long as the Center maintains a moderately prosperous society for the Periphery, the Periphery will agree to do what the Center asks of it." But that's pretty long.

      Mandate of Heaven literally only applies to monarchs. Chinese people do not believe Xi is the Son of Heaven, obviously.

      It means as long as the emperor (and Xi all but crowned himself emperor by interrupting the 10 year succession set up by his predecessors)
