52% white people for anti-Asian hate crimes. White people account for ~59% of the population in the USA. On average, also, they're probably in more homogeneous (white) communities so you'd expect them to be less likely to commit hate crimes purely because they're around minorities less. There's other discussions to be had over the numbers, too, but the point remains that a lot of the crimes were committed by white people.
where are you getting this number from? I checked and it's more like 63%

63% is way worse, because it means white people are over-represented despite many living in segregated communities.

you mean white Americans period. A huge amount of poor whites essentially live in segregated rural communities where they also wouldn't interact with Asians.

Yeah, I was deliberately being kind of generous because there are a certain number of white people who do live in somewhat diverse neighborhoods. But, as you say, American desegregation was a joke.
