I’ve worked with and known several congressional staffers who’ve all told me that politicians actually listen to petitions and check their voice mails. I’d argue that sending a strongly worded letter is just as effective as voting.
When the fight for democracy comes, my role won't be on the streets getting hit with rubber bullets and jailed for a decade for "inciting a riot", my job will be writing opinion editorials and attending organizing meetings via zoom in my jammy jams with a pupper at my feet
