Golf carts legally can't exceed and are designed generally around a spec of 15 mph. It just feels faster. They also don't generally include literally any safety features, like turn signals, mirrors, horns, seatbelts, window defoggers, doors or other things like that. So, LSVs and NEVs are generally safer, faster, and more feature rich. Some include heating as well, a necessary aspect for them in colder climates.

today i learnt there is a legitimate distinction between a golf-cart and a LSV. All the 'golf-carts' I was thinking of (i.e. these $15,000 golf-trucks I've seen boomers at the beach driving to get breakfast) are considered LSVs not golf-carts. :cat-confused:

Yep, they're actually surprisingly common and often confused with golf carts.
