For reference - 2021 congressional calendar
Both the house and senate have a vacation next week. And - of course - they have a week off for Thanksgiving too.
I have a crazy idea. If they don't actually vote tomorrow - cancel all their vacation days until they pass the bills.
Members of congress have:
-
Free healthcare for life
-
Several times more days off than the average worker
-
Sources of income from under the table, behind closed doors, and for expenses. On top of the salary and a government pension afterwards
-
Enough connections that they can get whatever else they could possibly want.
-
An apparent need to flex on average US people by voting to give them crumbs.
Also...
- They can get away with insider trading making them millions (even more?).
Right. General legal immunity that comes with being one of the people in power.
Whenever there's a headline with a title like "Senator X sold $1m shares of EvilCorp after..." - I know that Senator X broke the law and he didn't give a single fuck because he knows nothing ever happens. Also - the media will lose interest after a few days or after a week absolute tops.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't daydream about it constantly.
-
Whoa - easy there. The dems are expected to have a Failure Fucked Friday tomorrow. We might have to wait a couple weeks. Bad things comes to those who wait.
work
I don't know if I'd call it that. Take this phone call for example...
Mr. MoneyBags: "You again, Asshole?"
Senator Asshole: "Hello, I hope you have been well and—"
Mr. MoneyBags: "Cut to the fucking chase. Why do you guys in DC do the song and dance? You called me to beg for money. I know it. You know it. So - is what you promised me in the BIF and the BBB gonna happen? It better."
TBF it's more like 4 hours a day of taking phone calls from guys who talk just like Donald Trump and then 3-4 hours of golfing or eating dinner with those same guys.
it should be that if both chambers can't agree on the same bill for more than a month there are immediate snap elections
