I don't get it. "Let's go Brandon" is the equivalent of a silly middle school taunt.

Same as with Pepe and the ok sign, I suspect: ppl like in-group codes/inside jokes/call-signs by which they can recognize one another. There might be some deeply religious people who are maybe irked by saying "fuck" out loud, although I'd bet they're a minority and that's not the reason.

I'd say pepe and ok sign originated separate from the mainstream culture at large seeing how they're from the 4chan fringe but slowly trickled into parts of the mainstream whereas lets go Brandon originates from the mainstream and rapidly flooded from there to all corners.

That's true. I know that Pepe wasn't meant as a hate symbol at all. With Brandon, it seems like a kind of appropriation that happened with the word "queer" (functionally, not saying it's the same), like "Oh yeah, you tried to turn 'Fuck Biden' into 'Let's go Brandon'? Fine, we'll use yours but will mean what we mean when we say it."

I mean the original story of lets go Brandon is equally as boring as the hogs that chant it. It came from a football game where they got "fuck Joe biden" going as a chant and CNN basically said "boy this was a swell game, you can tell because everyone's saying let's go brandon" with 'fuck Joe biden' literally in the background.

The hogs found it funny and they now squeal "lets go brandon" to own CNN and the libs.
