The whole 'viola sucks' meme is so tiresome, to be honest. It's a fantastic instrument, underappreciated. Can't we just follow pop music standards and all gang up on the percussionists like civilized people?
:angry-hex: Don't you make fun of my instrument, it's everyone else's clef that's wrong.
Lmao I love the viola player's immediate instinct to get defensive after years of bullying by composers and uppity violin players — I played viola too, I'm sympathizing I promise lol.
I did play violin for years first tho so I can't actually read alto clef fluently, I just translate the notes into finger positions based on the treble clef violin positions, and yes I'm aware how cursed this is
after years of bullying by composers
All Composers Are Bastards.
Except maybe Brahms. He's 'kay.
Don't forget the uppity cellos too. I still can't believe that we get made fun of by violin 2s as well like come on bro.
Lol right? It's a choral piece but "the Alto's Lament" speaks to my soul
Fr all the other clefs would be really weird for the viola's range. Mf the middle note is in the middle of the viola's range it just works.
It doesn't help that Naruhito switched from violin to viola because he thought the violin was "too exciting".
Jokes on you, I only count lines to figure out intervals anyway.
Actually, as a cellist, can I just say how much I appreciate the tenor clef? Fuck using treble clef for high parts - just let me read my music as though it were bass clef, just one string higher.
