because they considered pointless opposition at the expense of your own life to be irrational and thereafter a mental illness, whether it is right or wrong i won t make a judgement either way

keep in mind we are talking about the soviet system, there is an ontological difference with capitalist systems wherein you're not forced into internal contradictions, so you wouldn't have just a drive to put down the system, it would have to be something you notice at least somewhat consciously and decide to oppose even if it doesn't affect you and you can't affect it (relatedly capitalism is always changing so you would not have the same impression as with soviet stability on what you can change)

is it though (not rethorical)? like personally i get the point even if it was instrumentalized later on, case in point being Alex Jones who probably is more than just a grifter with some mental condition

Yes of course it’s fucking awful. I’m a disabled, mentally ill anarchist, just so you know where I’m coming from here, and I find the idea that the State could simply assign me a mental illness and forcibly institutionalize me if I were to protest against State-sponsored injustice to be deeply dystopian and horrifying.

As for the rest, I’m really not sure what you’re getting at here. Are you trying to say that Alex Jones should be forcibly institutionalized for being mentally ill? Because fuck that, there’s plenty of actual reasons to shut him down without weaponizing the systemic mistreatment of those suffering from a mental crisis.

who said anything about institutionalizing, i am only talking about a diagnosis, also we're talking about the ussr which isn't the here and now obviously
