Letting them try to unravel their own beliefs is one of the strongest ways to get people to rethink their beliefs so you are already going in the right direction. Light pushback over a long time is better than strong pushback unless you dont care about them suddenly deciding they dont want to hang around you anymore.

Pointing out flaws in capitalism and how people are generally treated is much easier and less intimidating to conservative people. Most conservatives already understand the standard of living of the common person is getting worse, they just have no idea why and regurgitate right wing talking points.
