Thinking back to when my dad said he wanted to vote for Biden specifically because he didn't want "n-words" getting anymore money from Trump who is a "n-word lover". Blue dogs are so fucking cool!

We go on about the blue check PMC crowd around here but my dad is the idea working class Biden voter. A racist blue dog who loves capitalism but parts ways with republicans over shit like abortion and marijuana.

I could picture my Clinton-stanning mother saying almost that exact same thing lmfao. There's probably about 3x as many Americans who think like your dad as voted for Bernie.

Yup. The way my dad thinks is like the default for this area, where I grew up. The average white guy I'd meet votes dem, watches the daily show, south park, and thinks that racism ended in the 60's, that the only racism around today is against white people. I've met so many of these types growing up and I was one for a bit.

There's no way in hell we're ever going anywhere near the half-cocked lockdowns we did last year, especially now with christmas.

Yeah that's what I figured. In any case I know what's going to happen, which is nothing, and the media will continue to just blame the un- vaccinated for everything. We're not locking down, we're not going to do mask mandates, it's going to be more wishy-washy advice like uhhh try not to go around people. Oh, okay.

And how about Fauci saying yesterday that the USA gets a B on it's covid report card. Ruled over by absolute dimwits who just don't give a fuck.

I hadn't even heard about that lmao. But I can already picture people frothing at the mouth because they think that laughably inflated score is too low

It's such a crude parody of Trump to mispronounce the name of one of the worst variants so far and declare that we won't need lockdowns against it as he's ratfucking the remains of the social safety net against it.

    Liberalism is a cancer.

Excited to move from the Donald Trump performatively-doing-things era to the Joe Biden performatively-not-doing-things era, and finally on to a President that's literally just a sock passed around between the CEO of Exxon and the ambassador from Israel.

Omnicron? C'mon man. I remember back when we had a Unicron variant. Big as a planet, turned into a big robot. A guy named Prime helped us and that's why we celebrate Prime day. He was red, white, and blue as well, and I always think about that because that's America. We defeated Unicron and we can defeat this Megatron variant. Now I'm going to get in my Hot Rod and drive to get some ice cream. Yeah, we're still doing the ice cream thing.

Meanwhile Moderna CEO without doing any tests already said that unfortunately omnicron is probably resistant to their vaccine so unfortunately everyone has to buy a lot more from them, :\

It could be a big deal. We don't know yet. It would have to outcompete Delta.

Still, it feels like watching a slow motion car crash.

Early data says it's risk is similar to delta if you're vaccinated, twice as deadly if you're not.

      This is going to suck.

"Another worrying statistic has been revealed regarding the unvaccinated: their risk of becoming seriously ill is 2.4 times that of the original strain of the corona, the one that arrived in Israel nearly two years ago. In "unvaccinated" the reference is also to those vaccinated in two doses who are entitled to a booster and have not yet been vaccinated and therefore their protection is insufficient. "

Woah this is going to fill some graves

no one knows, but AFAIK all recorded omicron cases have been mild. here's the thing though, if it's more infectious then it's bound to kill more people just because it infects more people, even if it is just as or less severe as delta, that's like the whole deal with new variants. also tbh this is something that health officials should worry a lot more than individual people, because while it might drastically change how waves behave, it doesn't change thaaat much on an individual level, and the precautions you might or might not be taking are still effective.
