You know, I hear this sort of thing every single time people in the US protest. The liberals are quick to remind them that "this won't win hearts and minds" every time. Any sort of protest, be it peaceful or disruptive, is declared invalid for rallying support. Oddly, they never suggest an appropriate way to protest that would win hearts and minds.

Why, if I didn't know better, I'd think these people just flat out don't want anyone protesting at all because it makes them look bad!

It's always fun to find political cartoons from the 60s and point out to them that if they were alive then they would be making the exact same arguments that the people who opposed MLK Jr were using.

Yup that's the one I was thinking of.

And then keep reiterating "seriously you realize that you would have opposed MLK Jr if you were alive at the time right?"

Enjoying the fireworks after asking them to explain the difference is the most societal value you'll get out of a liberal.

I love when they do that. They twist themselves into knots, usually implying that MLK Jr was "one of the good ones" (and today's protestors aren't).

They want protesters to get permits and march in circles until they get tuckered out

But even when they do that they still complain about it. A protest can be 100% legal with all the proper paperwork (freedom to protest amiright?) and inconvenience no one, but they'll still complain about it being the "wrong way to protest"
