Due to post about feds nocking on their door and asking about Hexbear, which was posted outside of fake news and could be seen as serious.

They were just "heh" occasionally at first but they became funnier and funnier the more they drew absurd reactions from others. The more ridiculously melodramatic things were about the inconvenience of someone telling a mild lie on the internet the funnier I found it. The anticipation of reaction then became itself funny also.

so the entire joke was the reaction? wow, that is exactly the same thing as trolling. BRB making an alt and posting rule breaking shit to fit the tradition... jk

Yea the joke was that they said things that libs and chuds would say because they liked upsetting people here.

Which to my eye is indistinguishable from just being a chud.

I mean, yeah it IS trolling. That's sorta what fakenews is to begin with.

We find it very funny when people troll the media or libs or reactionaries. But turn hexbear's own humour on itself and people couldn't handle it. This to me was very very funny, partly because it's a "come on, if you dish this out you should be able to take it too". Maybe it's because so much the humour in this country is often self-deprecating though.

Yes, because they are chuds and they deserve it? We shouldn't do that kind of thing to our friends, this is just reactionary "GROW A SPINE" boomer thinking

i've said this in some other comments, but there was a article that was like "Micheal Parenti Dead at 76" what's funny about that? how is that 'le epic troll makes fun of hexbear?' that just made a lot of people sad. and people saying that got banned for being 'crybabies'. i fail to see the irony or funny humour being turned on ourselves

If Melina was a brit that would explain a lot.

Personally I find the imitation bits done by other fakenews users to usually be amusing. They are not mean-spirited, which is a consistent vibe I feel Melina put off. Taking the piss is one thing, but self-deprecation is aimed inwards. Melina always aimed at a post somebody else made.

Melina was clearly a good poster, I just hope that talent is used in a less antagonistic way if/when the return occurs.

edit: actually, this changes if my hunch that gaycuckertarlson is an obvious alt

they're not, they are def two separate people. they are friends though, as are all the fakenews crew (until the recent additions anyway, idk about them)

If I said I trust you to be speaking truth you would not feel guilt regarding the alt discussion? You are a person I choose to trust…

You are correct though, the evil Anglo has shit taste and cannot make good jokes except to this with similar damage such as “less dams hard Americans” and “more damaged zealanders”

Cool beans, the trust chip is slotted into the brain pan. Thank you for being honest with me. The way my head works I have a hard time figuring such things out.

This is part of why that stupid post pissed me off so much. Preying on users' trust by explicitly breaking the rule put in place to help foster trust to begin with (no fake news outside the fake news comm) was not acceptable as a bit and they always seemed to be trying to exactly that necessitating the creation of the comm in the first place. As someone that has had guns pulled on me before and a visit from the feds myself once many many years ago (not for anything I did mind you) I found that last post totally unacceptable and, frankly I find people like @Awoo@hexbear.net, whom I otherwise respect and like taking enjoyment from severely anxiety inducing posts like Melina constantly made quite disappointing.

First things first, I am both sorry that you had to deal with that and glad it did not turn into a big thing.

I've been fed agency involved after somebody tried to seriously hurt me once. I didn't call them or anything, it just happened because of how it went down and both of us being from different states.

I did not see that post until it was removed, but if I had seen straight I might have had a bad time. So yeah, I totally agree that shit was bad vibes.

help foster trust to begin with

edit: this is a good point. comrades should == trust

? I do get it with the issue of it being outside the comm though? I haven't defended that anywhere. I've defended the fakenews posting overall.

Yeah that is fine it was just that nothing about anything Melina ever posted was funny to me and that one went way over the line. But that wasn't the only one. Your posts have otherwise been fine.

That’s the vibe I got. Your version fake news posting was appropriately labeled and funny as a result (as opposed to not being labeled and potentially misleading).

Ah, so you feel/have analyzed that there is a good critique of our/hexbear's sensibilities in there?

full disclosure: I would be absolutely fascinated by hearing more about the context necessary to understand the humor behind the posts.

I hope that is not too weird, but I get it if inquiring about site social history is viewed as such.

                I wouldn't say good.

It's funny to me though. I don't know, I think one of the things about this shitty island that's a positive aspect of the culture is the fact everyone gets roasted by friends fairly regularly for the most mundane shit. And if you don't learn to self-roast and go along with it? You get roasted even harder until you do.

That's sort of what I saw here. Hexbear reacting and the response being to double and triple down to wind it up.

I bought some of them early on. I even got caught out re-sharing something to a friend that I had to retract because it caught me out. That shit's GOOD to happen to me, it reminded me to check shit before I go sharing and not to believe literally everything I see on the internet. I've been laughing at myself for it ever since. But I think the negative reaction of others comes from an inability to laugh at themselves for getting got.

This is probably partially incoherent or disjointed as a thought, I'm just about to have a nap and half asleep already.

That's literally just a self-perpetuating culture of bullying.

And if you don't learn to self-roast and go along with it? You get roasted even harder until you do.

And what about our ND userbase, who will never quite "get" your islands toxic social dynamics? Death to the first world.
