Some good highlights

The post claims Pelosi has been in office for 28 years, during which she earned $193,400 per year. That math adds up to about $5.4 million, according to the post, which goes on to claim that Pelosi’s net worth is $196,299,990

Pelosi entered Congress in 1987 — 34 years ago, not 28 — and the meme has the wrong current salary for the House speaker. A review of Pelosi’s most recent financial disclosure shows that it got her net worth wrong, as well.

Because Congress members are required only to disclose a range of values for their assets and liabilities, the Center for Responsive Politics provides a minimum and a maximum net worth for each member. It calculates an average of those two numbers to determine an estimated net worth.

While the meme uses Pelosi’s maximum net worth from 2010, the average is nearly half that: about $100 million.

is this even real

The claim that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is worth more than $196 million while working on a $193,000 salary is FALSE. Financial disclosures show that Pelosi’s net worth isn’t close to $196 million, and the salary used in the post is wrong. Pelosi earns $223,500 a year as speaker and is worth about $106 million

a USA TODAY review of Pelosi’s report filed in August 2020 shows that, on the low end, Pelosi could be nearly $40 million in the hole. Her maximum net wealth could be as much as about $251 million.

Using the Center for Responsive Politics method of averaging the two leaves a net worth of about $106 million. That’s about $90 million less than the figure cited in the meme.

This is the basis of calling the claim false, despite the fact they admit the claim falls within the range of their own estimates. Uh...have you tried just adding our upper and lower bounds and dividing by two? Because that's how you know how much money Pelosi has sweaty.

Like this is pathetic they're not even trying lol. Just clown shit :funny-clown-hammer:

Oh OK cool so that means she's been in for congress approximately 400 years, because that's how long it would take to get a net worth of "only" $106 million at that level of salary.

And libs roasted Bernie for having a normal ass tract home in VT, a condo in DC (literally needs somewhere to sleep at night when congress is in session) and a shack in the woods.

She didn't get rich from her Congressional salary and no one is claiming that lol. Her husband is a venture capitalist and career finance guy, and she makes a lot of let's say "lucky" trades in the stock market.

What the fuck is even the point in having congress file a financial disclosure report if all it tells you is that they're worth between negative $40 and $251 million dollars? Like, no shit! So am I.

Claim: Ted Kennedy murdered people by driving his truck into a lake

Fact Check: Actually he only killed one person by driving his sedan into a pond and he didn’t explicitly kill her, he was merely responsible for her death—a death he failed to report for nine hours after the accident occurred. He went home, took a nap, and then later admitted to leaving the scene of an accident. He got a two-month suspended sentence for leaving the scene and wasn’t charged in any way for the death of Kopechne.

    Our rating: 100% FALSE

They're doing Pelosi and her like a lot of good by mudding the waters about their totally non-corrupt wealth.

I disagree. It depends on who's doing it and for what reason. I'm sure people here can think of examples, especially those pertaining to "official US enemies", where doing so isn't a joke.

You don't have to. You could just threaten the riches person with lifetime jail till they give up their wealth and passwords freely, they have the option to give away their wealth though and be free (as then they have little to no economic power). Then you go to the next person and so on. If one goes to jail you still go to the next person.

And since equality feels for privileged like injustice you could just give them standard meals, standard housing and they would feel as if they are the most tormented souls on Earth.
