Looked at the :reddit-logo: thread for this, maybe slightly more than half of top comments correctly calljng this bullshit. Sorted by new and saw 3 comments in the last 20 wishing for the freedom of the… Chinese people from this oppressive dictatorship.
Do that many people think China and Korea are the same place?
You would think, but there's the counter adage to that that if you repeat a lie enough times, it becomes believable. And looking around it sure as fuck seems like the latter is more accurate.
E.g.: Capitalism good, communism bad. How often has that lie been repeated in the imperial core, and has that repetition led to the catching-on of the truth? Imo, it's the context that makes all the difference, and I wonder what the specific context is if :reddit-logo: really is improving on China. Personally, I'm skeptical that it is, and feel like it's getting worse because much of the pushback that used to exist (like say a certain notorious leftist sub) is getting purged by the three-letter agency and capitalist owners of the platform.
more and more left-leaning libs in my twitter sphere are catching on to how stupid some of the lies being spread are, and how hilariously onesided the reporting is

1 step forward, 2 steps back
:reddit-logo: actually seems to be improving on China sometimes.
There's only so many times you can repeat the same lie before people catch on.
