I have an intense hatred for both DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, but the trailer looked good. I'll put up with them and give it a torrent

Watched it last night it’s pretty good, does a good job of distilling a lot of themes that prevent us from addressing climate change. It felt like it could get a little bit spicier but they had to tone it down a bit for Netflix.

    spoiler

The bit where they turned the mission around because they found money in the comet was pretty funny

It would have been funny to have China save everyone at the end but the metaphor for climate change wouldn’t have held

20 minutes in and why did they have to make the president a lib fever dream of female trump?

But else the mood is on spot

I skipped through all the lib comedy and just watched the parts that mattered, the movie is nihilistic and it’s only saving grace is that everyone is doomed and that the parasites who are ok with letting this world die are too stupid and decadent to start over exploiting the next one. I have no interest in going to holiday parties after watching it and will stay home.

Well socialists made it (david sirota and Adam mckay) and it works pretty good as a metaphorical critique of our absurd society and its failure To deal with climate change. It’s a bit long and kinda meanders in the second half. it’s almost idiocracy like but more realistic and it made me cry because so many people can see what is wrong but none of us can fix it.

It's highly cynical and depressingly accurate. I'm sure in real life these people are just as short sighted and egotistical but a lot more boring.

Anyone notice some talk show host saying "Are we going to listen to two MArXIsTs?", referring to two scientists/protagonists? Or the Internet chat at one point saying "don't look up you marxist skunk"?

I thought it was pretty funny.

Also a short bit with dumb centrist film director was just a really nice touch.

It was part of the annual christmas movie marathon. It is good (but it won't hit as much in eastern europe, too much anglo inside jokes).

Also watched three billboards (only saw the end), The gentlemen (usual guy ritchie movie), Zombieland 2 (exactly the same as the first), Now watching Shrek.
