I'd prefer it if doctors referred to their patients that way. I'm paying for those visits, so don't be "patienting" me, I pay for your service so I am a customer. Patients are the people you saw when you still cared about the Hippocratic oath, before you started doing harm to my mental wellbeing by charging ridiculous money to see you.
I had a summer job at an old people's home where the boss called the residents "customers", like bruh they live there.

A logical outcome, the political "discourse" about the American healthcare system has been couched in terms of the "individual healthcare consumer" for basically as long as I can remember. It was only a matter of time.
I remember hearing a radio ad a couple years ago for some class action lawsuit or something that started with the phrase "Attention American consumers!"
